Sindhi Film for International Film Festival – Be proud to be a Sindhi

You would be glad to know that the feature film “PYAR KARE DIS‘ would be showcased on 15th Oct’09 at Indore in Global Cinema festival in the regional film category (Sindhi). The festival is being organised by Film Federation Of India in collaboration with the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The Film PYAR KARE DIS is based on the theme of Power of love. The film is produced by an NRI Sindhi Mr. M. Harwani who provided a platform to make a good Sindhi cinema. PYAR KARE DIS is directed by Kamal D. Nathani who has been into direction for more than 2 decades. His first Hindi feature film “THE HOPE” was also internationally acclaimed at various festivals including Emden Festival, Germany, MAMI International Film Festival etc.

Its a great achievement for the Sindhi community as a whole to note that World renowned ghazal master Jagjit Singh has sung a devotional Sindhi song for the first time in his life for this feature film. Famous singers like Shaan, Roop Kumar Rathore and Richa Sharma have also sung sindhi songs for the first time in their careers.

PYAR KARE DIS has been made just like any other film. Cine star Preeti Jhangiani sizzles in a special dance sequence and climax of the film PYAR KARE DIS. The film has been shot on picturesque locales of Saputara and other outdoor locations apart from the various film studios of Mumbai.

It is my humble request to pass this information to as many Sindhis as possible as this is a matter of pride and a great milestone for Sindhi community in the 60 years of independence. This will also give an opportunity to the Sindhi community in INDORE and adjoining places to go and view the film PYAR KARE DIS at INOX THEATRE ON 15TH OCT AT 2.15 P.M.

VENICE (Reuters) – Capitalism is evil. That is the conclusion U.S. documentary maker Michael Moore comes to in his latest movie “Capitalism: A Love Story,” which premieres at the Venice film festival Sunday. Blending his trademark humor with tragic individual stories, archive footage and publicity stunts, the 55-year-old launches an all out attack on the capitalist system, arguing that it benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty. “Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil,” the two-hour movie concludes. “You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy.”

Neither Hindu Nor Muslim

You will not become a Hindu nor a Muslim will you become

of the human progeny you are and a human being you will become

It is wonderful that so far no name you have

and no association with any religion you have

the knowledge that has divided the human beings

no blame on you, for none of that you have ..

Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif – Haunted by sex video

Bad days have indeed hit Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Days after rumours of their split comes some thing much uglier. The webworld is flooded with a fake sex video featuring look-alikes of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The video, possibly made on a cell-phone originated in Canada, but it took no time for it to spread all over the world. Report say that now an MMS clip of the video is also doing the rounds. Due to the uncanny resemblance of the people in the video to Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, the video was being pitched as an authentic one for quite a while, till some people watched it closely and figured out it was not actually the two Bollywood stars, but look-alikes. Salman and Katrina Kaif have maintained a dignified silence over the issue and have decided to let it die its own death.

A reinvigorated film industry will not only provide jobs to hundreds of thousands of people, it will also be a major source of foreign exchange earnings because of the large expatriate community living in Europe and North America. Most of the time the entertainment industry, particularly films, are early indicators of future economic and political scenarios. From Hollywood and Bollywood to poor Lollywood, all film industries give very good indications of things to come. Lollywood’s annihilation and Bollywood’s expansion tell the story of two competing countries.

Did I see Pretty Zinta?

by Altaf Shaikh, Marine Engineer/ Travelogue Writer
Pakistani seems to be crazy for Bollywood film actresses. Some of them think that on reaching Mumbai you can see them all around & every where. On return from Mumbai everyone at home asks me whether I saw Pretty Zinta on the roads of Mumbai? Could I see Rakhee Sawant, Bipasaw Basu, Neha Dopiya, Pirayanka Chopra, Riya Sen Or other bollywood beauties in Chowpatty, Colaba, Churchgate, worli, Bandra, or on the Curry road of Mumbai??
No, I could not see Pretty Zinta, Qatrina Kaif, Samera Reby, Amirta Rao, Celina Jetly, Depika Pardicone etc but I saw cows and cows and cows on the roads of Mumbai …. fat cows, skinny cows, lazy cows, holy cows, hungry cows, lethargic cows and even one pretty cow I saw on Jagannath Bhosle road, Colaba (the southern part of Mumbai).
