My brother has mild paranoid-schizophrenia and the only times he has become uncontrollable is after he spends a few days living on lollies, chocolates and coffee. He gets into a cycle of not sleeping (due to sugar high) the brain begins to dehydrate (from the sugar) and added to the lack of sleep he ends up in the psychiatric ward for a few weeks until the more balanced diet balances him out again and he comes home.
