The panacea that Mr Altaf Hussain, leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), is proposing to cleanse the corrupt, rather bankrupt society of Pakistan, would not be successful as long as the mighty powerful bureaucracy exists in Pakistan. The feudal lords might be rich and powerful but they cannot take a stride without the help of the bureaucracy of Pakistan. Altaf bhai, you cannot fix Pakistan’s problems without the elimination of Pakistan’s powerful bureaucracy. I have modified the word ‘bureaucracy’ to ‘feudocracy’ because 90 percent of the bureaucrats in all four provinces are not only the favorites of the ruling parties but mostly relatives of these feudal lords. These powerful Secretaries, DCOs, DPOs and departmental heads would never allow anyone to win elections even if they knock down the feudal lords.
