So true for India also and this mega disaster is waiting to happen at many places. I have personaly seen in the northern Indian states near the himalayan foothills colonies, temples, ashrams have literally stopped the flow of the moonsoon rivers as they are mostly dried up except during the rains.
I some how do not feel sympathetic to people who eventually suffer as they are the ones damaging the system and it is not that they are totally unaware
