Book on Comrade General Sharof by a Sindhi writer

Sher Muhammad Bijarani (Marri) was a Baloch nationalist tribal chief and militant. He fully favoured a struggle against Pakistan. He was also known as Babu Shero, Shero Marri, General Sherof and Baluchi Tiger. He was the first Baloch who gave the Baloch armed struggle a new shape by following the tactics of modern guerilla warfare, against the occupiers of Balochistan. He was a military commander and an expert on Marxist literature.

A book in Urdu is launched on Nawab Sher Muhammad Mari alias General Sharof, written by Mansoor Qadir Junejo, a know Sindhi columnist and writer. Event was organised by some leading literary forums in collaboration with Hyderabad Press Club on 05-03-2010. Ceremony was addressed by Nawab Daud Mari, grandson of Nawab Sharof Mari, Gul Muhammad Jakhrani, PPP MNA and parliamentary secretary of nation assembly on Education, Azhar Jatoi, Chairman Hari Committee of Comrade Haider Bux Jatoi, Advocate Usman Balouch, former MNA and nationalist Balouch leader from Khuzdar, Balouch Student organization (BSOs) leaders from Sindh Agriculture university, Writer Saleem Channa, Idress Chandio, SUP leader Mr. Rajput and the author.

Author told some new stories of general’s support for Sindh cause and for the freedom of Balochistan. Speakers talked on the current political situation of Pakistan, present government inefficiency to deal with the critical political and socio-economic contradictions of Pakistan and PPPs role as a force of ‘statuesque’ to maintain establishment’s agenda. There was difference of views on various issues but there was consensus that Pakistan is a garrison state not a federation. Sindh, Balochistan, Pakhtoonkhwa and Punjab are not provinces but state. Present systems has no capacity to resolve the critical issues of the nation and since every nation has a right of cession so all should be given freedom to choose their future course.

Great tribute was paid to the martyrs including Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Nawab Akbar Bugti, Balach Mari, General Sharof and all those unsung heroes who had lost their precious lives for the freedom of their motherlands.
