Final Project time

Yes yes, it’s that time of the year now.
All of my art classes have assigned their final projects.

Gawd I’m not looking forward to completing them all x_X
As “fun” as it can be, having all of the due dates within the same week and pretty much on the same day, sucks. >_<

Oh brother.

Well, here’s what’s going on.

Letterpress:
This is only our second project of the term, but it is going to require a lotta lotta work.
It doesn’t help that I had to go through basically 5 different mock-ups/ideas/versions of my project, and only now I’m getting started.
But at least I’m headed somewhere now. I was soooooo stumped on what to do earlier. That kinda sucked cause there wasn’t really anything I could start on…
If there isn’t a clear plan, it’s hard to start and you might end up wasting a lot of time working on something that won’t even be used. I think that’s what kinda sucks about these traditional processes. I mean, the same thing can happen with my digital classes, but at least I can work on it at home, and they’re easier to edit and doesn’t require quite so much manual labor/time.
Oh snap, I gotta buy the supplies too. (My wallet is crying…)

Anyways,
as far as what I’m working on, it’s a secret. 😉
BUT, I can tell you that it’s going to be a hard cover book. So that’s gonna be fun. I think as long as I get the printing done in a timely matter, I don’t have to worry about coming in to work on anything else.

Photography:
So we got assigned our final project topic: Theater and Expressive Language
We have to make 5-7 prints. Which I’ll probably end up doing only 5 to concentrate on quality, and not spend quite so much time in the darkroom.  BUT, I’m a little confused on the required amount of prints because someone in the class only did 3 when we had the same range (5-7) for our last project and they weren’t in any trouble with the prof. Or at least from what I knew… We also have to mount all of them. Yay, my wallet will be crying even more…
On top of that they want us to pick 7-9 of our best prints and add it to the portfolio.
The problem with that one is that I don’t think I have 7 that I like the best, which means I’ll have to print more… AHH…
I think this class takes up the most time in studio because you have to take pictures -> come in for an hour to develop the film -> print in the darkroom for about 3+ hours -> then let them dry over night -> come in and mount (which can take a while too) :[
If this was the only art class that I was taking, then I wouldn’t be complaining.. but since it’s not… x0
Sorry, don’t mean to complain or anything, but that’s how I feel x_x

Digital Letterform:
He didn’t quite assign it yet (that will be next Tuesday), but he mentioned something about combining what we’ve done and making a poster or something.
This class has taken up the least amount of my time this term, but it definitely has given me a challenge when it comes to stirring up ideas.
Overall though, I am not too worried about it.
But hopefully it won’t be too hard.

Intro to Animation:
So, we have to make an animation at least 2 minutes long, but with good quality of course. For the last couple projects I did them the night before xD, and they were barely 1 minute long. The panda one is the only one that I attempted to start early on.
HOWEVER, proving that I can get at least 40 sec worth done in one night with intense concentration, I think I could potentially get this done within a week. But thinking realistically, I’m not sure if that’ll happen.
Definitely need to try though. I want to do the best that I can on these projects… so that I’ll have more things to stick into my portfolio.

Overall it’s gonna be a lot of work these next few weeks.
I definitely have not seen a lot of people in a long while because of how busy things have been.

Oh ya, and did I ever mention that I was taking a “Children’s Book” class?
I need to come up with a spread by next week. Aiya…

Well, I just wanted to update to get everything down somewhere.

I’m tired of looking at a computer… >.<
