Paint-it Pottery fun!

So I’ve been doing little art projects here and there lately. Blogging them is another story xP

BUT! I’m going to make an honest effort to put up some things that I’ve been working on, once I feel comfortable putting them on the web.

Anyway, POTTERY! Oh my goodness, it has been forEVER since I’ve painted pottery. The last time was back in intermediate school at this place called Paint-it Pottery that used to be in my home town.

This time me and my friends went to The Potters’ Quarter here in Eugene.

The concept is simple. Pick a blank ceramic object and paint it as you wish!!! This is the one I chose. Betcha can’t guess what it ended up turning into~

Haha!!! You think I made this huh? Actually I didn’t, but this was the sample that they had, and I thought it was a cute idea.

Anyway, here is the one I started to make:

Yeah, I like Pokemon, and I don’t really have any shame in admitting that. xP
Originally I was thinking of using the bottom to be Pikachu’s mouth, but thought it would have looked weird.
***OMG, I could have used Totoro!!! T-T Next time I guess…

Anyway, I started with Pikachu. I wasn’t sure what else to add, but ended up choosing this route:

Raichu!! Ya, I decided to make the Pikachu family. It was hard trying to remember what they looked like (no I don’t have a data plan for my smart phone). So this little guy was made from memory.

Last but not least…

Pichu!!! Made completely from memory as well. I know you can’t tell it’s him right now, but believe me, it is!

Painting with glaze paints is so hard cause the colors come out completely different than what they look like, Plus it’s hard to tell if you got enough layers to make the color come out the way you want to.
In the end I had to rush to get it done cause they were closing, but here’s some of the last few pictures that I took before I added the black lines:

About a week later I was able to get my mug! Here is the finished result:

I’m not entirely happy with it, but I had fun painting pottery that day! Next time I’ll try something else, and hopefully I’ll have more time to finish it!
