The pen has always empowered, educated and enlightened the people throughout the history but when in the hands of dictators and the notorious persons it has proved worst then sword and played havoc with the life of the nations. This was stated by the student speakers in speech competition on the topic “ Pen is mighter than sword” here held by Knowledge Centre Larkano on Sunday.
It was presided over by Prof. Dr. Mohmammad Ibrahim Keerio Principal Shaheed Zulifkar Ali Bhutto Agriculture College Dorki. Speaking on the occasion he said that the pen here is the symbol of knowledge and there are numerous examples in the history that sons of formers by using the pen have reached to the highest positions and ameliorated the lot of their nations with the power of their pen. Contesting student Urooj Arijo said the societies where pen is kept high they become democratic and accommodating in their nature but on the contrary sword rules the roost and suppresses the people and cuts the throats of those who want wisdom, reason and argument to flourish. Barkha Tunio said that said that though pen is real power but sword is the next name of Power. Tahra Samo said that weapon of the commanding authority is pen not sword. Quaid-E-Azam, Allama Iqbal and other leaders used pen to acquire the country, they did not looked to the sword for achieving their aim. Ruqia Kandhro said that the people who use their pen to glorify the human are written in the golden words in the history but sword posed threat to the humanity.
Speaking on the occasion Director of Knowledge Centre Prof. Mukhtiar Samo said that students should be given opportunities to talk on such curtail topics to find out the truth. Girl students are equally talented and always aspire to take active part in the development of the country.
Among others Areesha Tunio, Mariam Samo, Khushbo Abro, Saima Jhatial, Poonam Devi, Uzma Dayo Urooj Leghari, Saba Jokhio, Pirha Abro, Maria Abbasi, Sawera sheikh presented there speeches.
Barkha Tunio, Tahira Samo and Nazish secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively while Urooj Arijo Mariam Samo, Humera and Poonam Dev got consolation prizes.
