Press Release: London, 14TH Dec 2011 – A first meeting of International Sindhi Women Organisation (ISWO) was organised in London on 11th Dec 2011. ISWO has been recently setup in UK and aiming to be set up in other places such as USA, Canada, Australia and Sindh in forthcoming years. ISWO endeavours to empower Sindhi women around the world through capacity building and leadership. ISWO is committed to promoting Sindhi women’s human, civil and political rights at local, national and international platforms. ISWO is also dedicated to advance Sindhi women’s role in policy and decision making processes in all spheres of society including:
· Advocacy campaigning to support women’s rights issues in Sindh at international platforms such as UN.
· Uniting Sindhi women around the world regardless of their religion, age and geographic location.
· Establishing and running capacity building hubs to support and empower Sindhi women in UK, USA, Canada and Sindh through leadership programmes.
· Promoting/supporting Sindhi women’s issues during and in the aftermath of natural and human-made crises in Sindh and internationally.
This initial open meeting of ISWO was held in London where ISWO was officially launched with its dedicated team of office bearer for 2011 – 2012 who will take this much needed initiative from its early stages
to a successful and democratic organisation in forthcoming years.
