Disaster averted as 800kg explosives recovered

ISLAMABAD – While averting a possible disaster in Federal Capital, CID police recovered 800 kg explosive materials from suburb area of Islamabad besides arresting three key members of a banned militants outfit.

Police sources said that CID police on Saturday raided at a house situated in New Abadi, a locality of Bharaku, and recovered 800 kg explosive material, cables and other devices from the possession of three terrorists.

As per sources, terrorists have been identified as Hadiatullah Khan, Qari Ijaz and Dilawar Khan. They said that arrested terrorists aged between 22 to 25 and hailing from Dir District of Malakand Division.

A senior official of bomb disposal squad told TheNation, “Terrorists could make 120 suicide jackets from these recovered explosives as usually suicide bombers carry 6 to 8 kg explosive in jacket,” official added.

A source said, during primary investigations, the above-mentioned terrorists confessed that they wanted to carry out a massive terror activity in Federal Capital.

The terrorists were shifted to undisclosed location for further interrogations.

It was for the first time in the history of the Federal Capital that such a huge explosive material was seized by the law enforcement agencies and by doing so they had averted another Marriott like disaster where the terrorists had used almost equal amount of explosive that killed dozens of people and injuring more than 100.
