Song Update

I know that I posted a list earlier, but I am just starting to remember some of the pieces that we played.
I thought about including marching band songs, but I think I’ll stick to symphonic band music.
They are much much more different. Not saying that marching band music didn’t take a lot of practice, but the type of quality for a symphonic piece takes a lot more thinking than playing loudly for marching band.

Anyways, getting off topic, but after thinking and digging into my brain to try and remember what things were called, here is the list that I have come up with that I want to work with because of the pieces significance to me … whether or not it’s because I liked it or of the complexity, or when it was a turning point in my musical career or the piece had a specific story to it… These were the most important to me:

  • Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 – Dimitri Shostakovich
  • Methuselah – Masaru Tanaka
  • Ghost Train – Eric Whitacre
  • Where Never Lark or Eagle Flew – James Curnow
  • Havendance – David Holsinger
  • Into the Raging River – Steven Reineke
  • October – Eric Whitacre
  • Puszta – Jan Van der Roost
  • Festive Overture – Dimitri Shostakovich

TOTAL: 9 pieces.. Can do? Gotta slash some… Not sure if I’ll just go with the ones that actually have a specific meaning/story behind the music
