Islamabad: The Pakistan government has banned 25 religious and other organizations, including the Jamaat-ud-Dawah, Jaish-e-Mohhammed and Lashker-e-Taiba, the interrior ministry said. The ministry presented a list of the banned organizations in the National (Federal) Assembly or lower house of parliament. It also said the Sunni Tehrik had been put on a watch list. Among the organizations included in the list of outlawed groups are JuD, LeT, JeM, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariah Muahammadi, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Al-Akhtar Trust, Al-Rasheed Trust, Tehreek-e-Islami, Islamic Students Movement, Khair-un-Nisa International Trust, Islami Tehreek-e-Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Islam and others.

Pakistan has a certain potential edge over India because of the Pashtuns living on both sides of the border. However, Pakistan will have to use the Pashtun card differently than it has done in the past. While Pakistan failed in its delusionary policy of gaining strategic depth in Afghanistan, India is gaining broad and deep influence there. Investments of $1.6 billion and its dominance of every economic sector of Afghanistan will give India long lasting influence. And Pakistan’s Taliban proxies may not be a sufficient policy tool to balance Indian influence.
India has already constructed the 218-km Zaranj-Delaram highway to use as an alternative for Indo-Afghan trade in case Pakistan does not allow its territory to be used for the purpose. Besides building the Afghan Parliament, India has donated three Airbus airliners to Ariana, 400 buses for the public transportation system, and 105 vehicles for the Kabul municipality. India has heavily invested in several power generation projects as well, including a solar plant for the electrification of a hundred villages.

KARACHI – SINDH (APP)- Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has discovered natural gas from its Reti exploratory well No 1-A (Guddu Block), located in Ghotki district.
According to the communique to KSE here Wednesday, the Guddu joint venture is comprised of OGDCL, IPRTOC and Government Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, having 70 %, 25 % and 5 % working interest respectively.
Reti Well was drilled down to its target depth of 770 meters based on electric logs, geological and drilling data. The production testing was started on August 1, 2009 to evaluate the potential of Pirkoh Limestone of middle Eocene age.
Three zones in Pirkoh limestone have been selected for testing.
Zone-I proved to be tight and water bearing, while Zone-II has produced 2.82 mmcfd of gas wellhead flowing pressure of 498 Psi.
London: Scientists have edge closer to growing replacement bones with stem cell technology. Molly Stevens, professor at Imperial College London and author of a new study said: “Our study brings us on step closer to developing materials that will have the highest chance of success when implanted int patients.” The effort is on to create bone-like materials, derived from stem cells.
