Campaign for Sindhi TV channel on Doordarshan India

We all agree that Sindhi language can be best promoted today through Television. We need DD Sindhi Channel.[why? See the reasons given below] The great news is that Dada Ram Jethmalani, our Sindhu Ratna and the Leader of our Sindhi community has taken up this issue with the Government of India and has agreed to lead actively. He along with Asha Chand had a detailed meeting with the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Anand Sharma, who has responded positively.

Ram Jethmalani’s recent interview in this connection was shown on in Sindhi Surhaan TV program. Sindhi language is enshrined in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_languages_of_India#The_languages_of_the_Eighth_Schedule_to_the_Constitution ).

Hence, the Government of India is duty bound to promote Sindhi language.

Sindhi is now the ONLY language in the above Schedule (out of 22 Languages listed in the schedule) which does not have a DD Channel.(A dedicated Doordarshan TV channel from Govt of India )

Sindhi Sangat sent a petition to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in December 2007.

up this issue.

In Pakistan,where most Sindhis live,Sindhi language is promoted and Sindhi media and newspapers are flourishing…in India this is not the case…there are plenty of good Sindhi television channels in Pakistan.maybe these channels should also be broadcast in india to help bring the two countries together…

  12. we r sindhies where-ever we live, either in sindh or out of sindh, we r one by language by culture, and proud to have our own land. out of sindh we r icon / symbol of our 50 centuries earlier civilization. so we have to show our great astute in all fields of our lives around the other communities, where ever we live in the corners of the world. we should be one voice for our rights and for our great benefits, do not matter that we r pakistani sindhi or indian sindhi. one thing, we can’t avoid that we r sindhi.
