Statement of condemnation of the Coup d’ Etat in Honduras

The World Peace Council denounces firmly the recent Coup d’Etat organized by a group of military officers and reactionary politicians in Honduras. This brutal act, including the kidnapping of the legitimate President Manuel Zualaya and his violent transfer to Costa Rica, is bringing back the worst memories from military dictatorships in Latin America from the 20th century. The executors (and brains behind them) of this bloody plan have no support amongst the peace loving people of Honduras, Latin America and the world.

We condemn the violent actions of the participants of the coup which attacked also the Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas and the ambassadors of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua in Honduras, as an act of violation of International law and UN principles as well as a proof for their political motivation.

We demand the immediate halt of all illegal actions against the constitutional government of Honduras and the restoration of its elected government.

We condemn all kind of foreign intervention which supports the Coup and express our solidarity with the people of Honduras in its democratic strives.
