I strongly condemns a “media group” who is often using anti-Sindh term as “Karachi aur Sindh” in their news. It is an abasement and a volley on Sindh’s identity. Karachi is a part of Sindh not apart from Sindh.

PPP ruled Sindh government is about to present third budget of their tenure. Be ready for new promises, pledges and schemes. Are you interested listening and read all that? What did Sindh government achieved in the current outgoing fiscal year 2009-10?
People of Sindh want to know. Can Sindh government publish a Development Review or Economic Review and inform the public on state of economy, development and projects announced last year in the budget.
Rs 113 billion were allocated for development, including Rs 16 billion by federal government. How much actually has been achieved?
Newspapers report suggest development funds were not utilized more than 42%. This is height of negligence and ineptness of an elected government. Sindh continues to live in backwardness; people live under hard socio-economic conditions.
Budget 2009-10
· Rs. 113 development out lay included Rs 75 billion ADP: Where did this money go?
· The federal government was to be asked to settled the issue of Rs204 billion arrears of GST on services. Did they get arrears back?
· Rs. 2 billion were allocated for Thar Coal Development
An Exceptional Achievement
by: Ahmed Makhdoom, London
In modern day Sindh, I cannot think of any achievement by any individual in any field of human endeavour, than this remarkable feat, a brilliant accomplishment of this worthy son of Sindh, Abdul Majid Bhurgri. Sindh will always be indebted to this man of Sindhi computing, who had put the Sindhi language in the forefront in the list of languages in the sub-continent. A Sindhi Computer Operating System of our very own – excellent and exceptional revolution for Sindhi language. This is a service towards motherland, Sindh – extraordinaire! Thank you, Abdul Majid Bhurgri, we greet you! Long Live Sindh and the world!

You all probably already are aware about the consensus of the experts that to take full advantage of computer technology it is imperative that people should be able to use it in their own language. I have been working with this goal in mind since last almost quarter of a century. Today we can use almost any personal computer in the world for Sindhi.

…Try to visualize the state of Pakistan as a husband and East Bengal, the Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Baluchistan as wives.
– East Bengal was the least favorite wife and after a long battle she obtained divorce.
– NWFP is a militant wife with supportive and courageous brothers. She finally obtained a semblance of recognition as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
-Baluchistan is from a poor family and is frequently spanked.
-Sindh whines all the time, but does not dare breakaway as it harbors an immigrant woman who covets the role of a favorite.
– Finally the Punjab is from powerful feudal family, has always been the favorite, but being intelligent allows other wives stay once in a while, while watching carefully, exiling, executing and imprisoning any that exceed the limits.
It is up to the lesser wives to decide.

Seven million with Hepatitis?
ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT NEWS REPORTS THE SHOCKING SITUATION OF HEPATITIS A, B AND C IN SINDH, ESPECIALLY IN JACOBABAD, LARKANA AND UPPER SINDH. OVER SEVEN MILLION IN SIND ARE GOING TO DIE, (SO THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY OPERATION BY SECURITY FORCES.
THERE ARE MORE THAN SEVEN MILLION INFECTED BY HEPATITIS ARE ONLY IN SINDH. MEDICAL TREATMENT IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THOSE POOR AND HELPLESS PEOPLE. WADERAS ANDN SARDARS ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING.
NOW THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NOBODY THERE TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY IN SINDH AND TO START SOMETHING AGAINST THESE KILLER DISEASES.
THERE ARE ONLY A FEW INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO ARE TRUSTED AND HAVE CREDIBILITY IN SINDH, OTHER WISE MOST THEM ARE CORRUPT INCLUDING HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.
Conflicting News about Thar Coal in Business Recorder – Thar Coal Politics
by: Khalid Hashmani, McLean, Virginia, USA
The politics surrounding the Thar Coal continues to confound Sindhis and other Pakistanis. Only two days ago (May 21), the newspaper Business Recorder, which is published from Karachi, said that the World Bank had withdrawn support for the Thar Coal project. Today, comes another story in the same newspaper saying that the World Bank will support the Thar Coal project. It seems that there is some manipulation going on once again in an attempt to gain control for the central government over this important asset of Sindh.
It must be noted that other than oil and gas, where Pakistani constitution requies shared control, Coal is exclusively under provincial jurisdiction.

..there is a pressing need for setting up two universities in Sindh. 1- the Sindh Media University (SMU) because recently the media in Sindh has grown as an industry… It requires thousands of skilled people in various fields… 2- the Sindh University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences because our land is blessed with millions of animals but there is no scientific knowledge to save them. Every year thousands of livestock die after being hit by diseases leaving Sindh’s rural poor more poorer… Education in both these disciplines is the most neglected in Sindh…
If we don’t compare Sindh with the developed world and only look at Punjab, the province is much ahead of us and has established such universities.
The subjects of SMU should be mass communications, film, art, drama, theatre, folk crafts etc…SUVAS should impart scientific education about cattle and wildlife…Our old-styled rulers have no realisation that Sindh’s unique species of cows, buffaloes, goat etc are on the verge of being vanished. Wildlife is about to go extinct…
I would suggest, instead of setting up any media-related institution in Hyderabad, it should be established in Karachi because there is no university in the city named after Sindh. There are several institutions in Lahore named after Punjab… And no one has objection… Those who have imposed educational apartheid in Karachi and banned Sindhi students admission to educational institution of the city are planning even to rename the Sindh Medical College as Jinnah Medical College.
SDF calls for restoration of districts’ old status
HYDERABAD, May 16: The Sindh Democratic Forum has called for restoration of the old status of Karachi and other districts divided by the Arbab Ghulam Rahim government. The leaders of the forum who met here on Sunday said that the provincial assembly should take a decision on the issue because the issues of demarcation and demographic changes were more political than administrative.
The meeting demanded immediate restoration of the old status of Hyderabad because, it said, the city had been divided by a military dictator on ethnic lines to reward the MQM for its support for his illegal and unconstitutional rule.

HYDERABAD: The Federal Minister and Deputy Convener of MQM Rabta Committee Dr. Farooq Sattar said that people will foil the division of Sindh. MQM has never asked for division of the Sindh, MQM thinks Sindh as Homeland he added.
He said that some nationalists are hatching conspiracies against MQM by propaganda and added that all the conspiracies will be foiled. He said this while addressing press conference at MQM Zonal Office in Hyderabad, Sunday.

… it is not the Sindhis who haven’t accepted Urdu-speaking immigrants as Sindhis. It is our Urdu-speaking Sindhis who have not owned Sindh and don’t consider Sindhis as equal citizens of Sindh.
In my humble opinion, Urdu-speaking Sindhis are not only citizens of Sindh but they are actually SUPER CITIZENS of Sindh and Pakistan. At least that is what I gather from last 63 years of the history of Sindh and Pakistan.
Now as I see in discussions on internet, they want to officially part ways with Sindhis tearing apart motherland Sindh…

We are all aware that the recent overtures by Sindhi PPP leaders towards Sindhiat has more to do with their fears of loosing power within the Government and the party itself than with their newly found love for Sindhis. But, that is OK! Sindhis should be gracious and come to aid of any one who proudly shows their Sindhi heritage as Zardari did by wearing Sindhi attire while inspecting Guard of Honor in Afghanistan.
I for one would even forgive atrocities committed by MQM and embrace them if they sincerely merged into their new homeland and showed their willingness to be proud Sindhis, respecting its culture, values, and language.

The doctrinaire meaning of NATION – a modern democratic nation- is, “A people with a common mother tongue, living in an absolute majority in a territory which is their natural and historical homeland”. Despite their majority, the people usually live with one or more naturalized minorities – religious and/or ethnic – enjoying equal rights of citizenship in the territory, which is their homeland too. The majority people in the territory admit right to none, including these minorities, to subvert their majority by force or by any other means.

Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo, (1915) a living legend, a great scholar and an enlightened educationist, is one of the most eminent personalities of contemporary Sindhi society, who laid down the lasting foundation of modern thinking- humanism, patriotism and nationalism in Sindh, his homeland, he heartily loves with, and the center of his learned gravity and unshakable commitment. His contributions through his scholarly writings, extensively spread out to the fields of language, pure literature, education and political philosophy/ history and elegant, snave and thought provoking translations, are undoubtedly and unquestionable incredible, conspicuous and highly qualitative in terms of transforming Sindh into a rational, progressive, dynamic and secular society, wherein be no place for any vice and wrong like fatalism, defeatism and obscurantism- the traditional tools historically used for exploitation, slavery and suppression of human-being. One the contrary, he has been the great promoter of the most dignified social values like liberty, fraternity and equality. He has fought a long pen-battle against the forces of retrogressiveness in favor of progressiveness, and for this purpose, he has suffered a lot as well. Ostensibly, he is the Thought-Guru among generations of contemporary Sindh, but at the same while he has got the worth to be counted at par to the great thinkers and scholars of the world, today we live in. He throughout his life has kept in hand preaching a noble cause of goodness, beauty and truth.

In the beautiful land of Sindh, there is a beautiful goothu ( a village), Daraazaa. Here in this calm, sanguine, sanctuary of peace and tranquillity stand a monument, a Dargaah, an earthly monument, to that Heavenly Immortal soul, my murshid, my guide Saaeen Sachal Sarmast. The love for the Suufees, Faqeers and Darveishes of this remarkable land of Sindh that is enshrined in every son and daughter of this glorious land of Sindh is really heart-warming, inspiring and touching, indeed.
This paak, pavitar, pure dhartee of Sindh, the Cradle of Civilisations, had given birth to countless Suufees, Saints, Sages, Auliyaas, Avtaars. It is in this glorious land of Sindh that humanity learnt to breathe and take its first step towards emancipation, enlightenment and Eternal Peace, Prosperity and Progress.

We should join discussion and may formulate future strategy of HOW TO CONTEST AN ETHNIC ORGRANIZATION’S aggressive plans to control Sindh particularly Karachi the capital of Sindh. We should not forget that MQM has been trying for Premiership i.e; seat of Prime minister of Pakistan by any means and they are in full gear and already have initiated efforts in this direction. As we know that maximum benefit of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination goes towards MQM than anybody else. There are newly emerging Signs in politics of Pakistan that in near future NEW POLITICAL GROUPS will be formed and even Nawaz Shareef will be weakened further in Punjab!! Lets see and watch next maneuvering from Establishment in this regard — and all depends on PPP’s stand on Bibi’s murder/fact- finding committee’s report and possible trial of Mushrraf?? along with highly biased role of present Judiciary and in addition the negative politics of ANP AND FUNCTIONAL MUSLIM LEAGUE in Sindh for which MQM was waiting for and now it is not a question of IF but WHEN. On the other hand PPP Politicians declaring themselves as “MUGHAL-i-Azam”!? of Sindh. Last but not least — International players are there to interfere (as always) in Pakistan’s affairs to make this perplexing situation more worse and unpredictable.

Sourcing Haidarabad – By: Kanak Mani Dixit
Even though PIA Flight 269 was bound from Kathmandu to Karachi, I was excited to visit the Sindhi Hyderabad. For too long, the Deccan city and capital of Andhra, with its IT glamour, had wrested the limelight from its humbler counterpart. Lo! Even the screen indicating the Pakistani Airbus’s flight-path showed the Deccan Hyderabad, but not the city by the Indus to which I was bound.
From the Karachi airport, ‘Haidarabad’, as it is properly pronounced, is a two-and-a-half-hour drive through the rolling desert along the M9 motorway. The city is reached after descending a plateau and crossing a rivulet – in actuality, the great River Indus in its emaciated present-day avatar. There, a traveller crosses eastward, over a bridge that seems too long for a flow this miniscule, even though it is supposed to be the consolidated flow of all six tributaries upstream. India has tapped the three eastern rivers under the auspices of the Indus River Treaty, and Pakistani Punjab takes copious draughts from the remaining three.
The inhabitants of Sindh seem impelled by the force of history to speak of their great past – the great Indus civilisation and its archaeological remains, the conquests of Iskandar, the rise of the Sindhi language, Buddhism, Sufism and the arrival of Islam. Those were the times when the Indus flowed with strength, and contrasts with a beleaguered present are unavoidable. With the river nearly gone, Sindhis seek to preserve their pride in the Ajrak block-printed shawls that are presented to visitors, and in the vibrant Sindhi press that challenges Urdu as the language of political discourse.
