Sleep apnea is a disorder in which a person stops breathing during sleep, perhaps hundreds of times, usually for periods of 5 to 10 seconds or longer. In most cases the person is unaware of it. Apnea is usually accompanied by snoring. People who have sleep apnea may not even be aware of the disorder, but it causes weight gain, heart and lung disease, high blood pressure and pre-diabetic conditions. Rise and rouse my world’s wretched ones
Shake fiercely the palaces of the rich ones
Scorch every cluster of wheat in the field
That denies livelihood to the tilling ones

How Dry Skin Occurs
The job of skin is protection of other organs and body parts against germs, infection, heat, cold and sunlight. Skin has three layers- Epidermis, Dermis, hypodermis. Dry skin results when protective oils in the stratum corneum are lost and the water that is normally present in the skin is allowed to escape. As the stratum corneum dires out it shrinks, causing small cracks which expose the underlying living cells to the environment.
The Sindhu-Sarasvati civilization and Shikarpur
By Manzoor Chandio, Karachi, Sindh
There is no doubt that Shikarpur is the cradle of Sindh’s culture and heritage. Once upon a time, it was a great centre of trade and commerce linking South Asia with Central Asia. Now all this is history and Shikarpur, as the entire Sindh, has lost that status.
Therefore, there is need for reviving our lost glory like the European did in 14th to 17th century through renaissance. The best thing we can do is that we must learn more about our unique heritage and civilization- – the Sindhu-Sarasvati civilization.
Like the renaissance, meaning rebirth, began from Italy and spread throughout Europe, our civilization’s promotion must began from Sindh.
In this connection educated Sindhis can play the role like the European played in reviving the Roman civilization. The only thing is that we must own our heritage and civilization with pride and be assertive in introducing ourselves as the inheritors of the Sindhu-Sarasvati civilization.
Sindhi NGOs/other Organizations Need to show Initiative and Drive
Where are the Sindhi Organizations when other Pakistani NGOs showcase their Wares?
By: Khalid Hashmani
October 2009 — Washington, D.C. has seen many visitors from Pakistani NGOs in the last two weeks. They were here to secure funding for their pet projects under the Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009. A State Department official commented that no final decision has been made whether the new assistance will be channeled mainly through the Pakistani Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or through the traditional way through USAid department with focus on government-to-government transactions. The Pakistani NGOs, some in collaboration with their US partners showcasing their capabilities and marketing their expertise. The irony is that none of these organizations have any roots in Sindh or Balochistan, where Human Development Index (HDI) is one of the lowest in the world. None of the NGOs officials making presentations had any abilities in the Sindhi and Balochi languages; much of their focus was securing projects in Sindh. A presenter even commented that the Punjab Government does not want much privatization of their public education system. Many in the local Washington Sindhi community are fearful that just as Islamabad government officials have not been fair in distribution of resources to Sindh and Balochistan, so will these Islamabad-based NGOs would divert major portion of the new US funding for their pet projects at the cost of Sindh and Balochistan. In order to ensure that such malicious designs do not succeed, this article provides information about these NGOs, about their claims that they are already running many private schools, health centers, and micro finance projects in Sindh. It is hoped that people of Sindh and Balochistan would be diligent and help verify whether or not such claims are true. Further, in the event that non-Sindhi organizations do win major projects in Sindh, Sindhis ought to monitor their performance and report on any discrepancies to ensure that true beneficiaries of the funds allocated to any projects in Sindh would be Sindhis.

Glycemic Index
The glycemic index was first developed in 1981 by a team of scientists lead by Dr. David Jenkins, a professor of nutrition at the University of Toronto, Canada. Carbohydrate foods that find their way into the bloodstream gradually (fruits, green vegetables, and legumes) produce minimal insulin responses are called low glycemic indexes. Foods bread products, rice, sugar, honey, soda bottle, fruit jice, potatoes corn and etc) that increase the general circulation with glucose induce a surge of insulin are called high glycemic indices. High glycemic foods give sharp rise to high blood sugar is extremely unhealthy for the body. High blood sugar causes insulin resistance/ diabetes-II, irreversible damage to nerves, blood vessels, and organ specially kidneys and heart. Poorly controlled blood sugar is the main reason of the diabetics, increased risk to kidney disease, heart attack, and blindness.

10% is the official unemployment rate
Nor is the unofficial rate too great:
The Economy is on a downward slide
And by now, people’s hopes have died
So all of the employed make a plan
To join the jobless; to form a clan
They declare a total general strike
To break the rulers’ disparity-dyke
Most dependent is the capitalist class
That forms a part of the exploiting brass
To maintain the greatest democracy façade
They appealed calmly while hiding the rod
Patriotism, nationalism, enemy, and flag
The usual bull shit were used to gag
But the people have really united this time
And are in no mood to join the elite’s chime

Clinton Says India Can Outgrow China, If…
Washington : Former US president Bill Clinton has said India has the potential to outgrow China if it makes peace with Pakistan. This peace between the two countries could lead to a more modern Afghanistan and contribute to a world wide draw down of nuclear weapons, he said speaking at the Indian Institute of Technology’s Global Conference 2009 in Chicago last Saturday. In turn this could even indirectly influence a reduction of conflict in the Middle East, Clinton said when asked how India could play a more significant role in the UN and G 20 in the future. If you [India] did not have to rise defence spending 20 percent a per year and these countries could be working together I think you will grow faster than China,” he said adding, I think this idea that the Chinese are going to dominate the 21st century is not necessarily true.
How do you spell politics?
“Naturaly, the common people don’t want war, but after all, it is the leaders of the country [establishment] who determines the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along with whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifist for lack of patriotism & exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.”

Madame Helena Blavatsky
Helena Blavatsky was born in Russia in 1831. Her father was a soldier in the Russian army and her mother was novelist. The first real love affair Helena claimed was with Prince Alexander Galistin. But unfortunately her marriage happened with General Nicephore Blavatsky, who was twice her age. After three month she escaped and get away from him traveled to Tibet, studying with the Lama. She was in India in 1856.
Helena Blavatsky’s appeal wasn’t limited. Then she found herself romantically involved with an Estonian spiritualist named Nicholas Meyendorff and a opera singer Agardi Metrovich. In consequence of that love she gave birth of a baby boy named Yuri. No one came to claim the father of child. Helena took him to Spain to his medical treatment but unfortunately Yuri didn’t survive that trip. Yuri’s death put a huge impact on her. After the death of her child ‘Yuri’ she wrote that Russian Orthodox God had died for her on the day of her Child’s death. Then she traveled to Odessa, to Egypt, to Paris where she heard about the spiritualist movement in U.S.A. She arrived in New York in July 1873.
Her relationship with Colonel Olcott blossomed into the establishment of the Theosophical Society in September 1875. It was Helena Blavatsky and Colonel Henry Olcott that the Theosophical Society is still alive.
Theosophical society basically formed to study Egyptian mysteries, Science, spiritualism and other related fields. Theosophical society basically was and is; a nondenominational and no dogmatic only for cultural understanding between Eastern and Western philosophies, religions and sciences.
Madane Blavatsky wrote the Secret Doctrine 1888 to 1891. She wrote in 1888 about the reality of energy that 1. Atoms can be divided, 2. Atoms are in motion, 3. Matter and energy can be converted. And then after her death in 1897 Sir J.J.Thomson discovered the electron. In 1900 Max Plank’s discovered the quantum theory of physics and 1905 Albert Einstein unveiled the theory of relativity.
What is Schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a mysterious mental illness of delusions, hallucination disorder thought and feeling and a broken will. Some times the grip of schizophrenia calls “the cancer of mind”. Schizophrenia is a mysterious condition was first described in 1806, but no one is certain whether the illness – or more likely a group of illness – existed long before then but had escaped definition. Schizophrenia has a tendency to run in families, but hereditary alone apparently cannot explain why a specific individuals develops the full-blown illness. The term schizophrenia in 1908, describes a specific type of alteration of thinking, feeling, and relation to the external world. The term refers to a splitting of psychic function, a peculiar destruction of the inner cohesiveness of the psychic personality. The person experiencing early symptoms, there is a dislocation of every faculty of time, space, and body, hearing voices, bizarre delusions extreme apathy or agitation, coldness towards others – taken singly unique to the illness, symptoms vary so much between individuals & over time for the same individual that the notion of a “typical case” is virtually non-existent, even the degree of disability far more severe, on average varies wildly. The defining characteristic of the illness is the profound feeling of incomprehensibility and inaccessibility that suffers provoke n other people. Psychiatrists describe person’s sense of being separated by a gulf which defies description from individual who seems totally strange, puzzling, inconceivable and incapable of empathy, even to the point of being sinister and frightening the onset of the illness dramatically intensified a pre-existing feelings that essentially disconnect from them and deeply unknowable.
All we can do is pray for peace, which seems very bleak
It is very sad to learn terror news in Pakistan everyday. Zia left us with drugs and Kalashnikov and Parvez Musharraf left us with bombs and terror. All we can do is pray for peace, which seems very bleak.

We are the Masters of our own fate
by Khalid Hashmani, McLean, Virginia, USA
.. Our Baloch brothers have chosen the armed path and seek separation. Only history will tell if this was the right decision by Balochs or a mistake that further takes Baloch children away from sharpening their pens and arming themselves with the educational assets. However, Sindhis are non-violent people who for much of their history avoided conflict and conquered the hearts of their conquers with love, humility, and Sindhiat. It is the beauty of Sindh that if Muslim Sindhis were lagging behind in education, the Hindu Sindhis opened the best schools and institutions in Sindh and gave the best opportunities to their children.
The greed, selfishness, and usurpation of collective resources is nothing but a temporary phenomenon. The be-raham wadera, corrupt politicians, and selfish bureaucrats and rich hoarders will be defeated if even few of us keep the light of Sindhiat alive. Those who can, must strive and do their best to bring positive revolution in small cities, towns, and villages of Sindh. Sooner or later, the sincere efforts of such people will succeed if not in this lifetime then in our children’s lifetime.
Let us use what ever we have to keep fighting for the positive change for we do not have any other alternative. To do nothing would mean surrendering without even trying!
