The Chinese symbol of duality is the yin and the yang. The yin symbolizes the female, and the yang stands for the male. The yin-yang also symbolizes the coexistence of other opposing concepts, such as life and death, good and evil, black and white, and love and hate.

A Difficult Judgment
In a small town in the southern US, a person decided to open up his Bar, right opposite to the Baptist Church. The Baptist Church’s congregation started a campaign to block the Bar from opening with petitions and prayed daily against his business.
Work progressed. However, when it was almost complete and was about to open a few days later, a lightning bolt struck the Bar and it was burnt to the ground.
The Baptist Church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, until the Bar owner sued the Baptist Church authorities on the grounds that the Baptist Church through it’s congregation’ s prayers was ultimately responsible for the demise of his bar, either through direct or indirect actions or means.
In its reply to the court, the Baptist Church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection that their prayers were reasons to the bar’s demise.
As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork at the hearing and commented:
I don’t know how I’m going to decide this case, but it appears from the paperwork,
‘we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer’ and ‘we have an entire church and it’s congregation that doesn’t.’

People of Lyari Revolt against illegal operation
by: Khalid Hashmani
The people of Lyari have had enough with the false promises from PPP leaders and PPP-MQM government that has launched an operation against Lyari people. The mostly Baloch and Sindhi residents of Lyari had been ardent supporters of People’s Party and scores of them sacrificed their lives for PPP’s political victories. They are now organizing themselves away from PPP and forming an alliance with Balochistan freedom seeking parties and Sindhi nationalist parties.
According to the daily News http://www.thenews.com.pk/print1.asp?id=219223, to read Gahazi Salahuddin’s column, please click here
“…during the night between Sunday and Monday reflected a level of political awareness and communal solidarity that is remarkable.. … the citizens of Lyari staged a protest demonstration and marched, in tens of thousands, from Lyari to the Press Club”. The newspaper goes on to say that it was a “huge show” showed impressive organization and planning skills. It was a peaceful march and people mainly expressed their anger through their slogans. The newspaper called the demonstration as an” emotional vote of no confidence” against the PPP government.
Another interesting development is the signs of increasing influence of Baloch nationalists fast replacing the PPP loyalties among the people of Lyari. A video of a demonstration in Lyari by Baloch nationalists shows this changes through words and sights http://qik.com/ zayedbaloch/.
The same Daily News article also comments that “Karachi beginning to establish its linkages with the politics of Sindh and Balochistan”. There are now abundant signs that people of Sindh including Lyari are fed up with the status quo that allows MQM to operate outside of all norms, rules and regulations and the clue-less PPP leaders who are trampling their own constituents.

Pakistan : Role of judges in politics
Interview of Saeed Ulzaman Sidiqui with Kamran Shahid
by Khalid Hashmani, McLean, Virginia
An eye-opening video of discussion between Saeed Ulzaman Sidiqui and Kamran Shahid http://pkpolitics.com/2010/01/16/front-line-16-january-2010/. Click here to listen the interview
Saeed Ulzaman Sidiqui became Chief Justice after the illicit firing of Sajad Shah (who was a Sindhi) and was a collaborator of Nawaz Sharif in that firing. The discussion provides a lot of detail about the history of justice and rule in Pakistan. Indeed, a comment made in the discussion that Pakistan is probably the only country in the world where might is always right is enshrined in the law. I would recommend this video to all those who are always in the pursuit of truth and finding out the role and character of those who today claim to be champions of democracy and justice.

WHY! ONLY LAYARI IS SELECTED FOR OPERATION??
by Majid Maqsood, Karachi, Sindh
Violence started in Karachi was the result of occupying “Gutter Bageecho” which is around 30 acres land. Traditionally, people of Layari have been owning it but one ethnic party wanted to occupy it, so there was Action Committee made by people of Lyari for safeguarding the land. The first victim of target killing by ethnic party was Nisar Baloch who was the Chairmain of that Committee and then his successor Nadir Baloch was also killed. “Aman committee” (Peace committe) was supported by several parties who advocate the case of Sindh. It’s so distressing to only believe that Nisar Baloch and Nadir Baloch were killed just by the land mafia. Home Minister Rehaman Malik has denied the ”Peoples Aman Committee” which is arrange by the local workers of PPP Lyari.
Since 2002, so many PPP workers have been killed? Abdullah Murad, Munwar Surwardhi and other workers of Pakistan People’s Party, indigenous social activists, workers of Baloch loyalist parties, JI, Awami National Party and vocal workers of Muslim League (N) are murdered in Karachi by an ethnic party. Home Minister Rehman Malik should answer to the people of Sindh and Pakistan, that how these workers were killed?

Karachi is the inseparable Capital of Sindh
BHRC (Canada) Press release : Toronto , January 13 – Baloch Human Rights Council ( Canada ) has declared the recent killings of the indigenous Baloch populace in Karachi as a wider plan of the ethnic group to assert its administrative control over the city. The hegemonic and expansionist designs of ethnic group supported by the state policies are the root cause to all ethnic and sectarian strife and violence in Karachi, Sindh. The goals sanctioned by the ethnic group’s reign of terror against lawyers in the past, looting and burning of two thousand shops, target killing of indigenous social activists who resisted land grabbing, and the indiscriminate killings of innocent Baloch and Sindhis in Karachi, Sindh – is to decapitate Sindh’s capital from its historical and cultural roots and run it mafia-like as the Hong Kong of South Asia.
BHRC strongly condemns the PPP-MQM Sindh Government policies of discrimination and use of force against the innocent Baloch under the disguise of ‘operation-clean-up’ to rein in gangs and criminal elements. Ironically, in 1983, military operation against the Sindhis in the rural areas originally meant to crush the strong opposition to military rule was conducted under the similar pretext of “killing dacoits” in which thousands of innocent people lost their lives or were imprisoned.

Tensions Rise As Indian Traders Arrested In China
New Delhi: The news of the detention of 21 Indian diamond traders in China on charges of smuggling has given a fresh twist to New Delhi-Beijing ties and comes a day after the arrest of three Chinese engineers in central India for alleged culpability in a factory accident that killed 41 people.
“We have sought details from the Indian embassy”, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao told reporters. The external affairs ministry is in touch with India.s ambassador to China S. Jaishankar, She said … Indianconsular Officers are expected to be granted access to the detained Indian nationals .. The incident occurs at a time when distrust has resurfaced into India’s bilateral relations with China over a host of issues, including an increased Chinese assertiveness over the boundary dispute and a reported surge in Chinese incursions into the Indian territory.
Many Chinese working on various infrastructure projects in India have also complained of a host of problems, including issues of relating to their visas. The Chinese engineers, arrested in Chhattisgarh for a power plant chimney crash that killed 41 workers in September last year, were shifted to a district hospital in Korba town after they complained of health problems, the police said in Raipur.
